45 threat

As an ER nurse I had a 45 pointed at my head and the husband of the woman we were working on threatened to kill every healthcare worker in the room if we didn’t stop CPR on his wife he killed in her sleep.

Primary care is no different. I have had a patient slam me into the door when I would not give him opiates. I have had a large number of patients be verbally abusive and threaten the staff if they didn’t get worked in or if the provider did not give them whatever drug they wanted for the condition they diagnosed themselves with.

Not to mention trying to practice evidence-based medicine. Really! My coworkers would just give the patient what they wanted to avoid being abused.
