New grads- call the board of nursing and request a copy of your state’s nurse practice act. That way you will know what is in your scope of practice. Your employer can’t get you to do something that you are not licensed to do.

Get your own liability (malpractice) insurance. The hospital or practice has their own insurance but it doesn’t cover you. This will also have an attorney attached.

If you have to do a deposition or go to court, wear something professional. Don’t dress like you’re ready to go clubbing. It does make a difference.
