new grad and a window

When I was a grad many years ago, an elderly partially blind man took exception to me asking g questions and threw me into a set of windows… we had to call police to restrain him. I wanted to press charges but in charge said no, he’s sick and confused. I refused to continue his care. Next shift I was again allocated to that man. I refused after the day before. I was told it was not his fault and good for me to follow through. I refused and said if I’m allocated there I will take myself off shift. Eventually unit manager arrived and I was allocated elsewhere. Why is the nurse always to blame? Why?
