not fair

We have a patient on our floor that keeps assaulting nurses and staff. Patients are scared to walk in the hallways because of the fear of being assaulted. Been told to tell the patients that are scared, to stay in their room. But the patient that is a risk for assaulting anyone he can get close to is allowed to roam the halls.

Sunday night, he grabbed a tech’s arm, so she pushed him to get him to release her. Instead, he punched her in the face twice. Security team was able to get him back in his room. But when the tech called law enforcement, they refused to allow her to press charges. The reason being is that when he grabbed her and pushed, she pushed back to get him off her; that’s when he punched her in the face twice. Law enforcement and management blamed the tech and said she instigated it by pushing the patient.

I don’t care what they say, he placed his hands on her first, and she was just defending herself. Not fair that she can’t get justice.
