My very first IV start as a paramedic intern during clinicals was on a retired fire medic.

The second I walked in the room he was like oh you’re new and when I told him he was my first live stick (we only used IV arms in school) he walked me through step by step how to do it and was such a good sport about it. I will never forget the support he gave me that day when I was so nervous!
