sit down

I was PCU RN of 2 yrs, sitting running strips at the beginning of my shift. DR X, known for being a screamer at RNs, walks up to me with zero preamble, and he tells me, “Get out the chair. I want to sit down.” Even though he saw what I was doing for the cardiologist.
I was shocked & speechless & as I stood up, I realized OMGGG my monthly!!! I needed to run to the bathroom… so to HIM it looked like I ran off upset …went to bathroom & called surgery to tube me some scrubs.

I came back onto unit, DR X is walking off the unit with several other hospitalists….White coat…huge red blood stain from the seat he demanded I get up from. All the RNs saw, and a few docs….Smiled & nobody said a word.

I heard he was told a few hours & floors later…& I got a spot on “the Legend Wall” in the break-room.
